Fun & Games by Purposedit (“the Service”) is operated by Purposedit. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on whether you are a host (someone who creates and runs games) or a player (someone who joins a game).

From Hosts

Account email address (used for authentication and account management)
Billing information, processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers
Game content you create and upload (questions, answers, settings)
Game session data (results, player counts, timestamps)

From Players

Display name you choose when joining a game
Email address, if the host requires login verification for their game session
Phone number, if you voluntarily enter it to claim a prize in a QuizDrop game
Your game answers and score for the session you participate in

3. Device Session Storage

To keep you connected to a game if you refresh or reopen your browser, we store a small anonymous identifier in your browser's local storage (not a cookie). This identifier is random, contains no personal information, and never leaves your device. It is used solely to restore your game session.

Specifically, we store:

fng:device_key — a random identifier to recognize your device across page reloads
fng:player:<session_id> — your display name, participant ID, and phone (if entered) for a specific game session

This is not tracking — we do not use these values for advertising, analytics, or cross-site identification. To remove them, clear your browser's local storage or site data for funandgames.purposedit.com. In most browsers: Settings → Privacy → Site Data → find our site → Delete.

4. How We Use Your Information

To operate and display game sessions, scores, and leaderboards
To restore your game session if you refresh or reconnect
To contact prize winners via the phone number they provided (QuizDrop only)
To process subscription payments for hosts via Stripe
To send account-related communications to hosts (receipts, account notices)
To improve and maintain the Service

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as necessary to operate the Service:

Stripe — processes payment information for host subscriptions. Subject to Stripe's own privacy policy.
Supabase — hosts our database and authentication infrastructure. Data is stored on Supabase's servers.

We do not use advertising networks or third-party tracking pixels.

6. Data Retention

Game session data (player answers, scores) is retained for 90 days after the session ends, then deleted.
Host account data (email, game content, billing history) is retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal and accounting purposes.
Browser local storage data stays on your device until you clear it.

7. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing legal@purposedit.com. We will respond within 30 days. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have rights to access, correct, or port your data — please contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Children

Fun & Games by Purposedit is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
